Forensic Cartography/Surveying
Forensic: “belonging to, used in, or suitable to courts of judicature or to public discussion and debate” (Merriam-Webster)
Preparing a survey for court. Literally, every survey has the potential to go to court, but in this situation, it is measuring and preparing (as well as testifying) specifically for court. It can be locating a curb to determine who owns it and is subsequently responsible for the sprained ankle; it can be locating debris from a car crash to provide expert testimony in court; it can be preparing historic maps for evidence.
