blue line stream
:means that a stream appears as a broken or solid blue line (or a purple line) on a USGS topographic map. Typically this is used to define whether it is a body of water controlled by the state/federal government or if the waters are simply runoff and not “permanent.” Whether or not a stream shows on a topographic map does not necessarily control whether or not it is under the purview and control of some governmental agency.
